Rick Browse was a Patroller at Snow Bowl Ski Area and became the Asst. Regional Director under Al Pels.  Al was the first Regional Director of the NJ Region.  When Al stepped down as RD, Rick became the second Director of the NJ Region.

Rick was very involved in the Junior (YAP) Programs for the NJ Region and also for the Eastern Division. The Band-Aid program was introduced in our Region under his term of office. He also became a great supporter of it, and hoped to see the Band-Aid program started in all NJ ski areas. Today, this program is still active in our Region.

During Rick’s numerous years of patrolling, he was admired by Patrollers both young and old, thus, making him quite popular.

Shortly after his passing, the Region officers saw a need to recognize the patroller, or candidate, in NJ that had most contributed to the Region for that season.  After the final policies were defined, this new ‘Region Patroller of the Year’ was dedicated to Rick and, therefore, titled “The Rick Browse Award”. Rick’s legacy even founded a ski trail, called Browse Along, named in his memory, at Hidden Valley (now NWAC).
