NJ Region holds OEC evaluation
On July 30, 2022, the New Jersey Region held a successful Outdoor Emergency Care practical exam for Campgaw Mountain’s patrol candidates. NSP’s training programs for ski patrollers and mountain hosts are considered the standard of training for emergency care in the outdoor environment and are recognized by resorts and recreational facilities in all 50 states.

Training included spine motion restriction, stop-the-bleed, traction splints for femur fractures, and the care of many traumatic injuries and medical ailments. The candidates were required to demonstrate their skills in:
- Performing safe and effective stabilization and extrication of injured persons in the outdoor environment.
- Scene safety (identifying hazards to both responders and visitors).
- Safe and efficient use of outdoor emergency care skills to prevent further injury to visitors.
Congratulations to the new patrollers who completed the exam on a sunny, 90 degree day in July! And many thanks to the OEC instructors, evaluators, and volunteer patients who helped in the training and facilitated the final event. Also, a big shout out to Mr. Chris Cioppa, the Instructor of Record. The NSP is proud of you all!
